Now we are in the middle of summer and in Taiwan it is very very hot. So you might not be surprised that the Taiwanese like to enjoy cold foods and salads in this season. So here Joanne shows you how to prepare one of her favourite cold side dishes – jellyfish salad 涼拌海蜇皮.


Jellyfish salad 涼拌海蜇皮 ingredients

  • jellyfish-ingredientsJelly fish 170g
  • bunch of glass noodles
  • cucumber
  • carrot
  • celery
  • ginger
  • basil
  • sugar
  • fish sauce
  • mirin
  • vinegar
  • sesame oil
  • 1tsp salt

The list of ingredients above might look quite long but you’re likely to have most of them in the cupboard already if you cook any kind of asian food regularly. Of course you will need to get some jelly fish, Joanne bought a sealed refrigerated pouch of sliced jellyfish as the base of her recipe.

As its a salad you don’t have to labour over a hot wok! Basically after things are chopped to size its all put together in the bowl and mixed up – then its ready to serve.
